What do I need to book a test?
A valid ID (Passport or national ID card). When you register for your test, you will need to upload a clear scan of your ID. Candidates under 18 years of age have to supply written consent by a parent or guardian in order to book a test.
IELTS is not recommended for people under the age of 16.

Before you book your test
- Make sure to check which test you need with the organizations you are applying to. If you are looking to work, study or live in the UK, there is a specific IELTS test for UK visas and immigration. See which IELTS test is right for you.
- Have a form of valid ID (Passport, US Permanent Resident Card or US Employment Authorization Card) at hand, as you will need to upload a clear scan when you book your test and bring that same ID to the test center on test day. Please note that candidates under age 18 must be registered for the test by a parent or guardian so that proper consents and permissions are given.
- Pay your test fee. Test fees vary so check with your test center.
IELTS test date confirmation
- You will receive a confirmation email giving you the start time of your Speaking and Listening\Reading\Writing tests and the venue address. You may also check these on the Test Taker Portal.
- The test center will do its best to accommodate your choice, but IELTS test centers reserve the right to change the time and date of the Speaking Test when necessary. You will receive an email if there are any changes to the test schedule.
