This option will gradually be introduced in other locations over time.

The IELTS for UKVI (Academic) test delivered on computer will be held on selected dates throughout the year. Test registration will close one week before the date of the test, subject to the availability of spaces.

Test takers who choose this option will take their Listening, Reading and Writing sections using computer. The Speaking test will continue to be conducted face-to-face, as this has always been a key feature of the IELTS approach. We believe this is the most effective way of assessing speaking skills and inspires a more accurate and realistic performance from test takers.

All test takers will receive the same Test Report Form and all other aspects of the test are identical whether taken on paper or computer. This includes:

  • content
  • timings
  • types of questions
  • marking
  • speaking test delivery
  • security arrangements.
