How is the IELTS Reading Test Assessed?

Each of the 40 questions is worth 1 mark, producing a raw score out of 40. Scores are converted into the official IELTS 9-band scale in whole and half bands (e.g., 6.5, 7.0, 7.5). The raw score threshold for achieving a given band score differs between Academic and General Training. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, but incorrect spelling or exceeding word count limits are marked wrong
