Good news: From 1 October 2019, doctors, dentists, nurses and midwives headed for the UK can use their IELTS result or IELTS for UKVI result for entry and registration.

From 1 October, test takers only need to take one IELTS test for healthcare professional registration and their Tier 2 visa application for the UK.

This is because the UK Government has changed the rules regarding proof of English language for healthcare professionals and streamlined the process.

IELTS and IELTS for UKVI are accepted by both the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the General Medical Council.
