The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta exists to protect the public by regulating the profession of practical nursing.
We establish education and registration requirements, set and enforce standards of practice and conduct, ensure accountability and proficiency, and handle complaints and discipline. In all these ways, we ensure safe, high quality care for Albertans.
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are nursing professionals with a wide range of skills and an extensive scope of practice. They can be found in an increasingly broad range of healthcare settings beyond direct care including management, research and administration. Wherever LPNs work, they are compassionate, committed and collaborative.
