Our world is characterized by change. Technical innovations and social trends continuously pose new challenges to what we need to know and be able to do. How do we deal with this? The basis for a successful career is a sound professional education. The goal here is to identify and understand fundamental relationships. It is also important to be able to analyze new situations and to find solutions to specialist problems. In practice, however, that will not be enough in the future. This is due to the fact that economic, technological and social changes do not stop at disciplinary boundaries. Being able to develop the best solutions requires cooperation between different fields. Not coincidentally, most innovations arise where different disciplines meet. We feel that our students should systematically become familiar with this interdisciplinary cooperation during their studies. This will enable them to understand others and to explain their own thoughts to others. One thing is clear: Only those who are capable of cross-disciplinary dialogue and can acquire new knowledge will be successful in the labor market and in society at large.Our world is characterized by change.
