Developing your vocabulary in these areas will especially help in the Writing and Speaking components of the IELTS test. |
Thursday 9 March 2023 | Reading question types: T/F/NG and multiple-choice | After a brief re-cap of the format of the Reading Test, you will have the chance to work through the skills and strategies needed for these two question types. You will also have the opportunity to ask and answer questions. |
Thursday 16 March 2023 | Writing Task 2 Coherence & Cohesion | This webinar starts with a brief review of Writing Task 2. Then will we look in detail at some of the important aspects of Coherence & Cohesion, which is one of the four criteria by which your essay is assessed. |
Thursday 23 March 2023 | IELTS General Training Reading | This webinar introduces the format of the General Training Reading Test, how it is marked and suggests some strategies for dealing with three question types. These question types are: True/False/Not Given, Matching and Sentence Completion. |
Thursday 30 March 2023 | Writing Task 1 2-diagram questions | This webinar begins with a brief overview of Academic Writing Task 1. Then we will look at some of the challenges of dealing with questions that have two diagrams. We will practice how to overcome these challenges by analysing and organising the question. |
Thursday 6 April 2023 | Narrative tenses for Speaking | In this webinar, we will be looking at Part 2 of the Speaking Test in some detail. You will have the chance to practise using the different narrative tenses that improve and develop the story-telling and descriptive aspects of your 2-minute talk. |
Thursday 13 April 2023 | Academic Writing Task 1 Processes & Maps | In this webinar we will briefly review the Writing Test Task 1 format and will then focus on describing process diagrams and maps/plans. You will be able to practise some of the techniques for this as well as ask and answer questions. |
Thursday 20 April 2023 | Writing Task 2 Avoiding common mistakes | This webinar will focus on the importance of proof-reading to identify and correct test takers’ typical mistakes. We will focus on 5 areas of mistakes that, in our experience, are very common: countable and uncountable nouns, quantifiers, subject-verb agreement, run-on sentences and sentence fragments. |
Thursday 27 April 2023 | Reading Q types: matching headings and summary completion | In this interactive webinar, we will look at two question types from both the Academic and the General Training Reading Section of IELTS. You will have the opportunity to use skim reading skills in longer texts and practise a strategy for Matching Headings. We will then focus on an approach to Summary Completion and you will be able to do a full practice task with analysis of answers. |

We will then focus on the use of learning and recording vocabulary in lexical sets as a way to develop Lexical Resource. We shall look at how this approach can help in the IELTS Speaking Test. |
