Thursday 1 June 2023 Academic Writing Task 1: Graphs & Charts  This webinar introduces the format of Academic Writing Task 1 and shows the different ways the data is displayed. We will look at and practise analysing the question, writing the introduction with the all-important overview, selecting data and writing the body paragraph. The focus will be on line graphs and bar charts.
Thursday 8 June 2023 General Training Writing Task 1  This webinar introduces the format of General Training Writing Task 1 and then goes on to look at the different letter types you may need to write. We will also look at the organisation of these letters and the appropriate vocabulary needed.
Thursday 15 June 2023 The IELTS Speaking Test In this webinar we will start with an overview of the format of the Speaking Test. Then you will have the chance to practise some of the skills and strategies you need for each of the three parts of the test.
Thursday 22 June 2023 The IELTS Listening Test This webinar will start with a look at the Listening Test format and then will look at some strategies for answering the questions, such as predicting from context and predicting from language. We will also practise listening for and writing down letters and numbers, which are often included in Parts 1 and 2. We will also look at question types, and finish with some tips for the Listening Test.
Thursday 29 June 2023 Vocabulary for IELTS: collocations & idiomatic language This webinar will look at useful areas of lexis for the IELTS test. Starting with collocation, we will then look at the difference between idioms, proverbs and idiomatic language. We will then practise using collocations and idiomatic language in different parts of the IELTS test.
Thursday 6 July 2023 Essential Reading Skills for IELTS In this webinar we will look at ways of helping you find the answers to questions in the Reading Test more quickly by using good reading skills such as skimming and scanning. You will have the chance to practise these techniques, and to ask and answer questions.
Thursday 13 July 2023 Writing Task 2: avoiding common mistakes This webinar will focus on the importance of proof-reading to identify and correct test takers’ typical mistakes. We will focus on 5 areas of mistakes that, in our experience, are very common: countable and uncountable nouns, quantifiers, subject-verb agreement, run-on sentences and sentence fragments.
Thursday 20 July 2023 Academic Writing Task 1 Language for processes In this webinar we will look at the areas of language which are essential in writing a description of a process diagram: verb forms, linking devices and relative clauses. You will have the chance to practise this language, and to ask and answer questions.
Thursday 27 July 2023 Writing Task 2 An overview This webinar introduces the format of Writing Task 2 and what the examiners are looking for in 2 key aspects of the marking criteria, Task Response and Coherence & Cohesion. You will have the opportunity to work through an essay structure by analysing model paragraphs and follow 7 key steps to help you write your own essay.
Thursday 3 August 2023 Reading Question types: T/F/NG and multiple choice After a brief re-cap of the format of the Reading Test, you will have the chance to work through the skills and strategies needed for these two question types. You will also have the opportunity to ask and answer questions.
Thursday 10 August 2023 Academic Writing Task 1 2-diagram questions This webinar begins with a brief overview of Academic Writing Task 1. Then we will look at some of the challenges of dealing with questions that have two diagrams. We will practice how to overcome these challenges by analysing and organising the question.
Thursday 17 August 2023 Writing Task 2: Problems & Solutions During this webinar you’ll practise identifying the different essay types that you might be asked to write in Writing Task 2. We will then focus on one type, essays that require you to write about problems and solutions. You’ll have the chance to work through the steps to prepare to write your own essay before looking at a full model answer. We’ll also look at the language of cause and effect which will be useful not only for this type of essay but for all sections of IELTS.
Thursday 24 August 2023 Vocabulary for IELTS This webinar will give you the opportunity to work through three important areas of vocabulary for IELTS: collocation, word-building and lexical sets. Developing your vocabulary in these areas will especially help in the Writing and Speaking components of the IELTS test.
Thursday 31 August 2023 General Training Reading This webinar introduces the format of the General Training Reading Test, how it is marked and suggests some strategies for dealing with three question types. These question types are: True/False/Not Given, Matching and Sentence Completion.
Thursday 7 September 2023 Reading Q types: matching headings & summary completion In this interactive webinar, we will look at two question types from both the Academic and the General Training Reading Section of IELTS. You will have the opportunity to use skim reading skills in longer texts and practise a strategy for Matching Headings. We will then focus on an approach to Summary Completion and you will be able to do a full practice task with analysis of answers.  
Thursday 14 September 2023 Speaking In this webinar we will start with an overview of the format of the Speaking Test. Then you will have the chance to practise some of the skills and strategies you need for each of the three parts of the test.
